Vale Competitive Debut 03/05/07 v Hawick Royal Albert, East of Scotland League First Division.
Local goalkeeper Mark is back for a second spell at the club this season after having returned to Leithen Rovers for a season in the Border Amateur League. A fantastic shot-stopper with lightning-quick reflexes, 'Wils' has been a great servant to the club in his time at Victoria Park. Injury problems at the start of the season 2009-11 saw Darren Walker installed as first choice keeper. But Mark showed a tremendous attitude in battling back to fitness and patiently working hard in training until when his chance came - albeit due to a unfortunate injury suffered by Walker - Mark showed he had not only lost none of his attributes between the posts, but improved other aspects of his play and was the first winner of the newly-introduced Manager's Player of the Year at the end of 2009-10. Now competing with Chris Hill for the number one shirt this season.
