Formerly a Hibernian player, Ger became the first Scottish player to ply his trade in the Slovakian League when he moved to FC Neded. A fruitful spell in Eastern Europe was ended through injury and he returned home to Peeblesshire to get himself back to full fitness. Despite interest from SFL clubs, injury again blighted his season in 2008-09. Started off 2009-10 well, scoring some vital goals, including the winner against Stirling University in a league game at Victoria Park. But suffered an ankle injury in the return fixture against the students which effectively ended his season at Vale, although he returned to action in the Border Amateur League, playing for Leithen Rovers towards the end of the season.
