By Car
Approaching from North
From Edinburgh via Straiton
Take the A702 out of Edinburgh. Join the A701 at Straiton Junction and then the A703 at Leadburn and carry straight on towards Peebles. At the roundabout in Peebles, turn left onto the A72. Innerleithen is 8 miles further on. Soon after you enter Innerleithen, Hall Street is on your left, directly opposite the turn off for Traquair, and with a red telephone box on the corner. From Hall Street, the path at the side of the public park will bring you to the entrance of Victoria Park.
NOTE You can bypass Penicuik by taking the B7026 through Auchendinny and Howgate which will take you to Leadburn. The turn off is just after the Gowkley Moss Roundabout, less than a mile after Bilston. Once at Leadburn Junction, turn left to get onto the A703. Although it might feel like a shortcut, this route won't make much difference to your journey time, but it's a bit more scenic.
From Edinburgh via Dalkeith
Take the A7 out of Edinburgh, past Dalkeith and Newtongrange. A few miles after Gorebridge and just past North Middleton, turn right at the signpost onto the B7007. This road becomes the B709 and will take you down past Innerleithen Golf Course and eventually to the junction with Innerleithen High Street. Turn right and along the High Street until you come to a church on the left hand side. Hall Street is just after this, on your right, with a red telephone box on the corner. From Hall Street, the path at the side of the public park will bring you to the entrance of Victoria Park.
NOTE The B7007/B709 is a relatively isolated road and mobile phone reception in the area is poor. Please exercise caution if using this road during the winter months.
Approaching from South & East
From Galashiels
Take the A72 out of Galashiels, through Clovenfords. Turn right at The Nest Roundabout. After going through Walkerburn, Innerleithen is the next settlement, 2 miles on. Drive along Innerleithen High Street until you come to a church on the left hand side. Hall Street is just after this, on your right, with a red telephone box on the corner. From Hall Street, the path at the side of the public park will bring you to the entrance of Victoria Park.
Approaching from West
From Glasgow via Carluke
Take the A74 out of Glasgow, heading towards Edinburgh. Take the A8 until Airdrie and the beginning of the M8. At exit 6, turn onto the A73 for 8 miles, going through Newmains. At Carluke turn left onto A721 and continue for 6.5 miles, through Kilcadzow and at Carstairs continue on the A70 for 2.5 miles. At Carnwath, turn right onto A721 for 10 miles, going through Newbigging and Elstrickle, then turn left onto the A72 for another 10 miles until you come to Peebles. Drive through Peebles Main Street until you come to a roundabout. Go straight ahead at the roundabout and Innerleithen is 8 miles further on. Soon after you enter Innerleithen, Hall Street is on your left, directly opposite the turn off for Traquair, and with a red telephone box on the corner. From Hall Street, the path at the side of the public park will bring you to the entrance of Victoria Park.
By Public Transport
Travelling from Edinburgh
First Bus service 62 leaves from Edinburgh Bus Station and travels via Straiton, Roslin (during day), Penicuik and Peebles. On Saturdays the bus is half-hourly, leaving Edinburgh Station at 25 and 55 minutes past the hour. Journey time from Edinburgh to Innerleithen is 1 hour and 20 minutes, including a 5 minute stop in Peebles.
Travelling from Galashiels
First Bus service 62 leaves Galashiels Bus Station Stance 2 and travels via Clovenfords and Walkerburn. On Saturdays the bus is half-hourly, leaving Galashiels Station at 20 and 50 minutes past the hour. Journey time from Galashiels to Innerleithen is 30 minutes.
On Foot
Hall Street is at the western end of Innerleithen, directly opposite the Traquair Road and with a red telephone box on the corner. Once in Hall Street, the path at the side of the public park will bring you to the entrance of Victoria Park.
